Zhang Gaoli, Chairman of the Leading Group for Advancing the Development of OBOR meets with the leaders of ASEAN Countries attending the 13th China-ASEAN Expo

On September 10, 2016, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli met respectively with the leaders of ASEAN Countries attending the 13th China-ASEAN Expo.

When meeting with Hun Sen, Zhang Gaoli welcomed him to attend the 13th CAEXPO. Zhang Gaoli said that the initiative to jointly build the “Belt and Road” proposed by President Xi Jinping is a significant strategic vision of forging a community of shared interests, a community of shared destiny and a community of shared responsibility. The theme of the CAEXPO this year is “Jointly Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Forging an Even Closer China-ASEAN Community of Common Destiny”. Cambodia has always played a positive role in maintaining the overall development of China-ASEAN relations, and the Chinese side highly appreciates this. China is willing to continuously maintain the momentum of high-level mutual visits with Cambodia, well implement the consensus between both leaders, push bilateral relations for constant development, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and speed up the construction of China-ASEAN community of common destiny, so as to bring tangible benefits to the two peoples and people in this region.
Hun Sen expressed that Cambodia firmly advances the development of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, and is willing to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to enhance practical cooperation in such areas as agriculture, transportation, water conservancy and power grid, so as to actively advance the continuous development of ASEAN-China relations.
During his meeting with Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Zhang Gaoli welcomed him to attend the CAEXPO and pay an official visit to China. Zhang Gaoli noted that General Secretary Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang have maintained close exchanges with party and state leaders of Viet Nam, and high-level leaders of both countries have reached important consensus on deepening China-Viet Nam comprehensive strategic cooperation. China is willing to make joint efforts with Viet Nam to expand and deepen bilateral practical cooperation, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and consolidate the public opinion foundation of bilateral friendship by focusing on the mainline of implementing high-level consensus, so as to advance the healthy and stable development of bilateral relationship. Viet Nam is the Country of Honor of this year’s CAEXPO. It is believed that under joint efforts made by all sides, the 13th CAEXPO will be a complete success and make positive contributions to forging an even closer China-ASEAN community of common destiny.
Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that with a comradely and brotherly friendship, both countries are expected to continue to strengthen bilateral high-level exchanges, and deepen practical and mutually beneficial cooperation. He wished the 13th CAEXPO a grand event of friendship, cooperation and success.
When meeting with U Myint Swe, Zhang Gaoli expressed that linked by mountains and rivers, China and Myanmar enjoy long-standing “Paukphaw” friendship. Last month, President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and Chairman Zhang Dejiang respectively held meetings and talks with visiting State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, reaching important consensus on deepening China-Myanmar comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation in the new era. The two sides should maintain the momentum of close high-level exchanges, continue to enhance political mutual trust, comprehensively deepen practical cooperation in various fields, push bilateral relations for sustained, healthy and stable development, and consolidate and develop traditional friendship between the two peoples, so as to better benefit the two peoples.
U Myint Swe noted that Myanmar treasures its “Paukphaw” friendship with China, and is grateful for China’s valuable support to the economic development and national construction of Myanmar. The country stands ready to well implement the consensus reached by both leaders, so as to continuously deepen bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.
During his meeting with Sonexay Siphandon, Zhang Gaoli stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos 55 years ago, bilateral traditional friendship has gradually taken deeper roots in people’s hearts, and the two sides have carried out comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in various fields, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples and making important contributions to regional peace, stability and development. China will firmly pursue friendly policies towards Laos, and continue to provide firm support to the country’s development and progress. The 19th China-ASEAN Summit, which was just concluded in Laos, has adopted several outcome documents, depicting a magnificent blueprint for the comprehensive and in-depth development of China-ASEAN relations. China is willing to work with ASEAN countries including Laos to well implement outcomes of the summit, so as to elevate China-ASEAN relations to a new level.
Sonexay Siphandone expressed that Laos highly values its relationship with China. The friendship between the two countries and the two peoples has constantly moved forward and both countries have witnessed continuously deepening practical cooperation and frequent high-level exchanges. Laos is willing to well implement outcomes of the ASEAN-China Summit and actively advance the construction of the ASEAN-China community of common destiny.
When meeting with Prajin Jantong, Zhang Gaoli noted that President Xi Jinping warmly met with Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha a few days ago, who was in China to attend the G20 Hangzhou Summit, injecting new impetus into enhancing strategic cooperation between the two sides. China is willing to continue to strengthen the docking of development strategies with Thailand, jointly boost the "Belt and Road" construction, actively launch cooperation in production capacity and step up communication and cooperation in such areas as railway, aviation, aerospace, renewable energy and tourism. Thailand is an important member of the ASEAN. China is ready to work with all ASEAN countries including Thailand to boost regional development and common prosperity.
Prajin Jantong said that Thailand-China relations enjoy smooth development. Thailand stands ready to maintain high-level exchanges between the two countries, and reinforce bilateral practical cooperation in transportation, science and technology as well as other fields. As a close partner of China, Thailand is willing to further facilitate the development of ASEAN-China relations.
